Offering flexible new ways of agile working with the Council Offices based at Princes Road, Maldon available as required. Expectation to attend the Maldon District Council offices up to 5 days a week for collaborative working, business needs, training, and staff development.

Description

We are currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as a Business Administration Apprentice/s. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and gain valuable skills and experience in a Local Government Authority setting. 

As a Business Administration Apprentice, you will provide essential support to various service departments within Maldon District Council, including Environmental Health, Housing, Revenues and Benefits, Customer Solutions. This role will also have the unique opportunity to work alongside our Community, Communications and Tourism marketing teams, in particular online.

You will have the chance to work closely with experienced professionals and learn from them while contributing to the smooth running of our departments, and gaining a recognised qualification.

Experience in any of these areas would be desirable however what is essential is that you have:

  • A strong customer focus       

  • A positive “can do” attitude to help us deliver the highest standards of service for our customers     

  • Good IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly       

  • Attention to detail, with good levels of accuracy

About this role

We are looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete an Business and Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship with us. You will be motivated, able to work as part of a team and able to multi-task providing support to a variety of council services.

As an apprentice for Maldon you will develop within a professional working environment with managers support to enable a focus on self-development, opportunities to develop, room for progression and training.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Assist with general administrative tasks, such as data entry, filing, and document management

  • Provide support to different service departments 

  • Help maintain accurate records and databases 

  • Coordinate and schedule meetings and appointments

  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations

  • Respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner

  • Deliver excellent customer service (Both internal and external)

  • Ensure strict confidentiality is maintained, and data protection rules are followed   

  • Promote and Support Customer Self Service where appropriate

About the Qualification

The Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard at Level 3 is a qualification that combines the knowledge, skills and behaviours required of the standard and includes functional skills in maths and English. 

Delivery will be in the workplace with an assessor or coach through a combination of assessing, coaching, training and mentoring.

The minimum duration on the apprenticeship is 18 months, with an additional 3 months for an externally assessed end point assessment.  A total of 21 months plus functional skills if required.
