There are many different routes to explore from Apprenticeships and Early Career Programmes   to hands on working with horses or working in an office environment: There are several  Specialist Training Colleges  to choose from which young people can attend either after GCSEs or A Levels. For those wanting to explore riding options, the British Racing School based in Suffolk and the National Horseracing College based in Yorkshire, offer a Foundation Course in Racehorse Care which leads to a Level 2 Apprenticeship delivered in a racing yard. For those based in Scotland,  the Scottish Racing Academy  also has courses to offer.   Find out about Early Career Programmes & Apprenticeships in Horseracing Have your students ever thought about a career in the Horseracing industry? There are various career paths they can take, some of which they may never have even thought about and a wide range of training to support them on their journey. Foundation training at our racing schools, the National Horseracing College and the British Racing School, leads to completing an apprenticeship in a racing yard, which allows you to work hands-on with horses. There are similar options in Scotland with the Scottish Racing Academy. There is also an option for those that want to work with horses but maybe don’t want to ride. The National Stud offers an Entry to Stud Employment Course for those with no experience handling horses, leading to a role in the breeding industry.   Horseracing is the second largest spectator sport in the UK, supporting over 85,000 jobs.  There are so many different careers available from working directly with horses in a racing yard or stud farm to running large events at racecourses and race meetings. Take a look at the programmes on offer below. British Horseracing Development Programme This Programme, which has been running for over 30 years, provides an invaluable source of talent to the sport of Horseracing. Applications open each November and close at the end of February.
