Basildon Skills Show 2024

The Basildon Skills Show is back and this time it’s open to all!

Schools will attend this large-scale careers fair in the daytime and then it opens up as an all-ages job fair 3pm-6pm.

Exhibitors include Ford Motor Company, London Stock Exchange, the Army, Morgan Sindall, C2C, NHS Care Academy, Holiday Inn, University of Essex, Southend United and many more.

The Basildon Skills Show is on Wednesday 2nd October at Basildon Sporting Village, SS14 3DG.

 Virtual work experience programme – GREEN Skills

RWE have launched an offshore wind virtual work experience programme on SpringPod.

This programme is great for those wishing to get an understanding of what’s involved in a career in offshore wind. It is aimed at ages 13+, consists of several different modules which can be completed at their own pace. And at the end they will receive a completion certificate which can support applications.

Something for parents/carers …

  • Education support work course at Pathways

WEA will be delivering a 19-session Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges Level 2 course at Pathways’ training room in the Basildon Centre, SS14 1DL, on Tuesdays from November.

The classes run from 9:30am to 2pm, with a start date of 5th November and ending on 1st April, with breaks for school holidays.

  • Free Maths classes for parents

Quest Training offer a 12-hour Parent Maths Support Intermediate course designed to help parents with Key Stage 1-3 numeracy to develop their confidence, so they are better able to support their child’s learning. There is also the option of another 12-hour Further Maths Support Advanced course.

Other Multiply courses available from Quest Training are Functional Skills and a Cooking Club which focuses on topics such as measurements and percentages. For more information on any of these courses call 01474 704441 or email multiply@questfortraining.com
