About the role

In this role you will be a full-time, valued employee of BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, receiving a full, competitive salary and a fully-funded degree in Embedded Electronic Systems Design and Development! You will undertake the BEng degree at the University of Essex, in a traditional university environment and then work with our engineering teams, in Great Baddow, during your vacation periods.

This is an opportunity to design and develop state of the art software, firmware or electronics with our small client-focussed engineering teams. You will scope, plan and deliver work to agreed timescales for customer problems. This is a chance to have responsibility and hands on experience in exciting, cutting-edge work from day 1.

This Degree Apprenticeship opportunity is an integrated programme, delivering learning that supports a strong sense of progression, continuity and collaboration. You will be provided with structured training and development on domain specific and general engineering skills, delivered by BAE Systems’ subject matter experts.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for ambitious people, who are highly motivated and excited by learning and problem solving. They will have studied STEM subjects at college/sixth form level, with a particular interest in electronics technology.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands on experience in an exciting, competitive industry, while obtaining a fully-funded degree – this comes with the required ability to stay organised in a changing, fast-paced environment.

Suitable candidates will enjoy collaborating and working within diverse teams. They’ll have the ability and desire to learn quickly and sometimes work to challenging deadlines.

What do you need, to apply?

  • A minimum of 120 UCAS points, gained from a maximum of 3 A-Level qualifications or equivalent E.g. BTEC. (excludes AS level).
  • 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C / Level 4-9, including Mathematics, English and Science.
  • Relevant or prior experience may also be considered as an alternative to the above qualifications
